John Lloyd mum on Shaina's 2 a.m. call MANILA, Philippines (1st UPDATE) - Actor John Lloyd Cruz is keeping his silence over reports that current sweetheart Shaina Magdayao made a 2 a.m. phone call to his former girlfriend, actress-host Ruffa Gutierrez, last week.
In an interview during a press conference for the book 2 of his hit television series, "Imortal," with Angel Locsin, Cruz said the camps of Magdayao and Gutierrez have already agreed to put an end to the issue.
"Nagsalita na si Ruffa noong Sunday sa show niya. I mean kahit gustuhin pa naming magsalita, or magpaliwanag o sumagot, hindi na. It's not going to be worth it. Okay na kami, so tahimik na lang tayo, to give way sa inaasahan nating matigil na," Cruz said.
The actor also declined to talk about Gutierrez out of respect for his former girlfriend. He also said he does not want to discuss the issue because it might only get worse.
Cruz also said he does not care if people would call him a womanizer. He said what is important is that he knows the truth.
The heartthrob also admitted that the latest controversy has affected their loved ones.
"Hindi maganda kasi isang araw you will be bombarded by call, text messages na, ‘Okay lang ba kayo? Ano ang problema?’" he added.
Cruz reiterated that his relationship with Magdayao is getting stronger.
Staying positive
Amid speculations about the real status of their relationship, the young couple watched the premiere of Star Cinema's "Bulong" together on Tuesday night.
During “Bulong’s” premiere night, the couple didn't talk about the issue, but answered questions regarding their relationship.
Cruz also reacted to feng shui expert Maritess Allen’s prediction that their relationship would be put to test.
He said: "Well kung iisipin mo naman lahat ng bagay, lahat ng relasyon, hindi mo alam kung ano ang puwedeng mangyari. It's all about choices, kung pipiliin ninyo na panindigan ‘yong isa't isa then wala kayong magiging problema."
"Madalas kasi opinion lang nila yan pero nirerespeto natin kung ‘yon ang opinion nila at kung ‘yon ang sinasabi nila. Pero hanggang doon na lang 'yon kasi ang buhay namin is about us at 'yong mga choices namin, 'yong mga bagay na pinipili namin, so ‘yon ang ginagawa namin," Cruz added.
Magdayao, on the other hand, said they are staying optimistic this year so as to attract luck.
"We have to stay positive so sana ay swertehin," Magdayao said.
