MANILA, Philippines - After impressing the world with her "neglectful" performance on "Glee," international singing sensation Charice will get the world's attention anew when she sings the Philippine National Anthem in the Manny Pacquiao-Sugar Shane Mosley bout on May 7.
The Filipino boxing icon's advisor, Michael Koncz, relayed the news that was reported by ABS-CBN News. As always, it was Pacquiao himself who picked the Filipina diva to sing "Lupang Hinirang" in his upcoming fight at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The singer behind the hit single "Pyramid" expressed her desire to sing the national anthem in one of Pacquiao's fights in 2009.
Koncz related to ABS-CBN News that Team Pacquiao already talked to Charice in Los Angeles and that the latter expressed excitement to sing our anthem to worldwide boxing enthusiasts. Team Pacquiao, just the same, feels honored that Charice accepted their invitation right away.
After the anticipated May 7 fight, Pacquiao is also set to do a series of concerts. For years, Team Pacquiao has been holding concerts after each of the boxing champ's fight.
As reported by ABS-CBN News, the singing pound-for-pound king, with his MP Band, will stage shows in Las Vegas and California on May 10.
