MANILA, Philippines - Seasoned pop artist Rico J. Puno appeared on ABS-CBN's popular noontime show "Wowowee" as a guest co-host for the day.

Introduced as "John Lloyd Cruz," Puno temporarily replaced Kanto Boys stars Luis Manzano, John Lloyd Cruz and Billy Crawford as host of the show.

In an exclusive interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Puno said that he asked the approval of his friend Willie Revillame before taking on the hosting job. Revillame, main host of Wowowee, took an indefinite leave from the show following a tiff with "The Buzz" co-host Jobert Sucaldito.

"Oo, alam niya.

Puno said it was an honor for him to substitute for his friend who helped him a lot.

The singer shared his happiness as the viewers and live audience welcomed him warmly.

Simply known as Rico J, the singer admitted that his one-day hosting stint in Wowowee will really help a lot to promote his upcoming shows in United States.

"'Yung tour namin sa States sa September na i-plug ng todo at nagkaroon ng matinding media coverage, yon lang kaya salamat," the singer said.

According to Rico, Wowowee will be going to Davao this Saturday (June 12).
