Charice has been quoted as saying about her latest music video: "'One Day' is about overcoming adversity and finding the confidence within yourself to achieve your dreams."

Before she became a Youtube singing sensation and in-demand performer, Charice had her share of losses while growing up in the Philippines. Raised by her single mother, the little girl from Laguna was accompanied by Mommy Raquel as she competed in singing contests in the province and nearby areas.

When she joined ABS-CBN's singing competition Little Big Star in 2006, Charice tasted defeat when Sam Concepcion was hailed as the winner.

Little did she know that the Internet would help boost her career since videos of her performing in Korea were enough to convince American talk show hosts Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey to guest her in their respective programs.

Since then, Charice has starred in the American TV series Glee Season 2 and taken part in two Hollywood movies (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and the yet to be released movie Here Comes the Boom).

Charice was chosen by a contact lens company to endorse an online contest asking teens to share their dreams and aspirations. The winners of the contest had the chance to appear in the music video, which was shot at a Los Angeles high school.


The music video of "One Day" was first released on AOL Music.

In her tweet posted last June, the 19-year-old singer mentioned that she was excited to shoot the dance part of this music video.

Nick Jonas, one of the members of American boy band Jonas Brothers, wrote this song which has lyrics that go: You're gonna know who I am / I will fly high and free / It's my fate wait and see one day / I've been afraid before / To reach for something more / But now I see that it's mine, I'll take it / Just go ahead and try

In a behind-the-scenes video about this project, Charice was quoted as saying, "Being a teenager as well, I can totally relate to them and I want them to realize that they shouldn't listen to anybody, just be proud of yourself, be confident and nobody's gonna bring you down. You just have to go for it, you just have to do it."

In an interview with Nick Jonas by MTV, the singer shared his observations about the Filipina singer.

"The main thing about Charice that people really connect to...and [what I] really love about her, is the fact that she is a just normal girl and she really shines because of her vocal talent. I was so blessed to be able to produce her vocal because she is so talented in that respect. It's amazing to see this big voice come out of her, especially on the song we did, because it really does require a really vocal talent and she really did a great job."

Lumabas noon ang report na nagkapikunan diumano ang dalawa sa senior stars ng bagong danserye ng GMA-7, ang Time of My Life, na sina Jean Garcia at Cherie Gil sa isang eksena.

Hindi malinaw ang buong detalye ng sinasabing insidente. Pero sa isang eksena ay sinampal diumano ni Cherie si Jean kahit hindi naman ito kasama sa script o blocking.

Sa grand launch ng Time of My Life kagabi, July 26, sa Studio 6 ng GMA Network Studios, marami ang nag-abang kung sisipot ba ang dalawang aktres o kung magsasama sila sa isang stage.

Pero nagulat ang lahat dahil magkasabay na lumabas sa stage sina Jean at Cherie para sa isang dance number kasama ang lahat ng cast ng show.

Napansin din ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at iba pang press na nag-uusap ang dalawa pagkatapos ng presentation. Magkasabay rin silang bumaba ng stage at magkatabi pang nanood ng teaser ng Time of My Life.

Nang makausap na ng PEP at iba pang entertainment press si Jean ay inamin naman niyang may insidente ngang nangyari sa kanila ni Cherie sa isang taping nila.

Kuwento niya, "May eksena lang na parang inaaway niya ako, so siguro nadala lang.

"Wala kasi sa eksena yung sampal, pero meron lang yung hataw... pero wala yung sampal talaga.

"Baka nadala lang siya sa eksena, parang gano'n. Pero wala talaga."

Ano ang naging reaksiyon niya nang sampalin siya ni Cherie kahit hindi naman dapat talaga ito kasama sa eksena?

"Sa akin, okay lang, kasi minsan kasama naman 'yon, di ba?" sagot ni Jean.

"Parang binigyan ng ibang interpretasyon, kaya parang medyo lumaki. Parang gano'n.

"Ang sa akin lang naman, kumbaga, okay lang naman 'yon, wala namang problema.

"Basta yun lang, sana next time, wala nang gano'n na...

"Di ba, maging professional tayo. Gawin natin yung trabaho natin na kung ano ang ipinagawa, yun lang.

"O kung meron kang gustong gawin, siguro mag-usap, kausapin."

Pero paglilinaw ni Jean, "Hindi ko sinasabing hindi [siya] naging professional, basta ang sinasabi ko lang...

"Huwag na, kasi okay na, e. Huwag na nating palakihin kasi wala naman talaga."

Ano ang naging explanation ni Cherie sa kanya tungkol dito?

"Wala naman, hindi na kami nag-usap about it, e. Basta, okay lang.

"Pagkakita sa set, civil naman, gano'n. We're okay naman...

Marian Rivera chooses not to counter Heart Evangelista's story of what happened in Ilocos Norte and at the airport.

Her manager Popoy Caritativo said in a text message, "She has already said her piece on this matter before and has already moved on from it."

Marian Rivera "chooses peace" instead of reacting to Heart Evangelista's version of their feud

Marian Rivera was portrayed as the "assailant," after Heart Evangelista revealed her side on of the story about their feud that transpired in Paoay, Ilocos Norte.

She was accused of "attacking, shouting at, and threatening" Heart, but what she said during the press conference of the Temptation Island last June 23 will be her last piece on the issue. (CLICK HERE to read related story.)

Marian's manager Popoy Caritativo said in his statement, "She chooses peace" because it is the "better option."

Here's the text message he sent to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at 9:10 p.m.:

"I have spoken with Marian earlier and we have decided that for the sake of peace and out of respect to GMA, she will no longer speak about this incident so that the issue can be put to rest.

"She has already said her piece on this matter before and has already moved on from it.

"Although it's hard for her to remain silent, she knows that there are times that peace is the better option. So she chooses peace.

"And she hopes that her supporters and fans would respect her decision. Marian sends them her love and gratitude. Thank you."

The Marian-Heart feud was revived earlier today, July 21, after the version of the latter finally reached the media and press.

Contrary to Heart's first tweet—“Let’s not make a big fuss. Marian and I are okay..."—about the issue, things did not become well between them during the last few days of their shoot.

According to her, a confrontation, where she was "sinugod at sinigawan," indeed took place after Heart got "excited" over the prospect of working with Dingdong Dantes, the boyfriend of Marian.

The reaction did not sit well with the Amaya star, who threatened Heart with, "Papatayin ka ng mga fans ko!"

With regard to the airport incident, Heart's mom and manager Cecile Ongpauco denied the two allegations against her.

On bringing "15 bodyguards," Mrs. Ongpauco said: "Sa airport, doon lang po ako nagsundo sa airport. Kinailangan ko lang magpatulong sa dalawang airport personnel para makapasok ako. 'Yon lang.

"So, pinapasok po ako, naghihintay lang ako sa labas, sa may luggage. 'Yon lang. Nagsundo lang talaga ako sa airport."

Mrs. Ongpauco also denied yelling, "Stay away from my daughter!" at Marian.

She stated, "Ano lang, ang katotohanan? Ni hindi ko siya nakausap. Hindi ko siya napuna.

"Hindi ko nga alam kung saan siya doon sa dami ng nabati kong artistang lumapit sa akin. 'Yon lang po."

Kasama ni Heart sina Atty. Archimedes Gonzalez at Atty. Camille Sevilla, na sa kasalukuyan ay tumatayong legal counsels ng aktres kaugnay sa isyu ng alitan nito sa Temptation Island co-star na si Marian Rivera.

Malinaw ang pakay ng press conference. Ito ay para ihayag ni Heart ang kanyang panig sa kontrobersiya na naging maugong kasabay ng promotion ng nabanggit na pelikula na magkatulong na pinondohan ng Regal Entertainment at GMA Films.

Hindi nagkaroon si Heart ng pagkakataon na sagutin ang isyu sa dahilang tumulak ito papuntang Brazil kasama ang kasintahan na si Daniel Matsunaga para magbakasyon ng tatlong linggo.

"SHE WAS NOT THE ASSAILANT." Bago tuluyang magsimula ang Q&A ng press conference ay minarapat muna ni Atty. Archimedes Gonzalez na basahin ang inihanda nilang statement bilang depensa sa isyu na ibinabato laban kay Heart.

Narito ang kanilang statement:

"As counsel for Ms. Heart Evangelista, I wish to correct certain disinformation that has been spread to the detriment of my client.

"First, my client has been portrayed as the assailant. This is false. She was not the assailant but the assailed. She was not the offender, but the victim.

"Second, her mother was portrayed as committing acts of intimidation in that she met her daughter at the airport in the presence of 15 policemen. This is false. My client's mother was accompanied by two NAIA employees whom she asked for assistance to pick up her daughter from the arrival area.

"Third, my client's mother is said to have in effect committed threatening acts against the other actress. This is false. No such threats were made by my client's mother.

"As a result of all these false and exaggerated accusations, four of my client's endorsement projects were put on hold. More damage was suffered by my client, because a TV project was also shelved because of the false insinuations against her.

"In short, my client's adversaries, may not only have committed the crimes of libel and grave threats against my client, but have also caused my client to incur damages in an amount that we will specify in a civil case that our law firm is still studying.

"We appeal to the media to hear both sides. My client has remained silent until now in obedience to the request of her home network not to speak publicly about the issue.

"However, the other actress spoke about the issue in an earlier press conference for a movie.

"Therefore, in self-defense, my client is forced to hold this press conference to air her side. Please help us to obtain justice in this forum.

"My client and I hope that after this, it will not be necessary to seek recourse in the courts."

Ang tinutukoy na "other actress" sa statement ay walang iba kundi si Marian Rivera.

HEART'S SIDE OF THE STORY. "I want to settle this issue privately, pero kailangan kong i-defend ang sarili ko. The false and mean things that have been reported about me in the media and online have damaged my reputation," saad naman ni Heart sa sarili niyang statement.

"I have even received death threats from the fans of Marian Rivera. I am traumatized and very scared. Once and for all, I want to share the truth about what happened in Ilocos."

In a statement released to People magazine, Jennifer and Marc—who wed in June 2004—said: "We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters.

Jennifer—who has been married twice before—recently spoke of her contentment in her personal life as wife and mother.

The 41-year-old beauty said: "I'm in a really happy, good place now, and when you have babies, you feel a different kind of love [compared] to anything you've experienced—deeper, more profound.

Kasama namin ang PEPsters na winners ng PEP promo na ang premyo ay ang makabisita sa taping ng pinagbibidahang epicserye ni Marian Rivera.

Kasalukuyang nagri-rehearse si Marian ng eksenang kukunan sa kanya nang dumating kami sa location.

Pagkatapos ng ilang scenes ay pinagbigyan na agad ang PEPsters na makipag-picture taking with her, at kasunod na rin nito ang maikling panayam ng PEP kay Marian.

Kapansin-pansin ang parang sugat sa mukha ni Marian kaya tinanong namin siya agad kung saan niya ito nakuha.

"Dito sa set. May kumagat na isang insekto. Tapos medyo nagkaano [namantal] na.

MOVIE WITH AGA. Lumabas sa PEP Alerts ang balitang gagawa raw ng pelikula si Marian kasama si Aga Muhlach. Iko-co produce daw ito ng Regal Films at GMA Films, at posibleng masimulan ang shooting sa September.

Pero ayon kay Marian, "Siguro ayaw ko munang magsalita tungkol diyan kasi, unang-una, hindi pa nailalatag sa akin 'yan.

"Nasabi kung nasabi. Pero hangga't hindi ka kinakausap, wala ka sa presscon, wala kang script, e, hindi pa sigurado 'yan."

Pero kung sakaling matuloy?

"Siyempre thankful ako kasi Aga Muhlach 'yan.

"Tsaka di pa kami nagmi-meet ever. Tsaka di ko pa siya nakikita, ever," sabi ng aktres.

Actress Maricel Soriano is now caught in a controversy after two of her former househelps accuse her of maltreament.

Tinalakay sa The Buzz kahapon, July 3, ang tungkol sa reklamo ng dalawang kasambahay dati ng Diamond Star na si Maricel Soriano.

Inaakusahan ng dalawang kasambahay na sina May Cachuela, 22, at Camille Acojedo, 18, si Maricel ng pagmamaltrato diumano sa kanila.

Kumalat ang isyu na ito nang dumulog sa tanggapan ng radio commentator na si Mon Tulfo ang mga dating kasambahay ni Maricel, na diumano'y dumanas ng verbal at physical abuse mula raw sa kanilang amo.

Kuwento ng radio commentator sa The Buzz, "May tumawag sa amin, yung ate ni May na taga-Zambales, na binugbog daw yung kanyang kapatid ni Maricel Soriano.

"Itong staff ko, sinabi na patakbuhin mo sa barangay. Kinaumagahan, sinundo ng assistant ko, pina-medical, tapos sinumbong sa barangay."

Noong July 1, Friday, nakapanayam ng The Buzz ang dalawang kasambahay na nagrereklamo.

Isang Inday Castillo raw ang nag-recruit sa kanila para maging kasambahay ni Maricel. Personal assistant daw ng aktres si Inday.

Noong June 18 lang daw sila namasukan sa pamamahay ng aktres sa Rockwell City, Makati, kunsaan nakatira rin ang anak ni Marya na si Sebastien kasama ang dalawa pang kasambahay.

Ayon kay Camille, "Noong una po, okay naman po. Kasi po si Ma'am, kapag may bisita, mabait po talaga siya."

MARICEL'S "WORDS." Ang mga masasamang salita raw na ibinabato sa kanila ng aktres ang unang nakaapekto sa dalawang kasambahay.

Kuwento ni May, "Unang pasok ko po do'n, laging mura ang naabot. Laging mura kahit may ipapaabot lang ho siya, magmumura siya.

"Si Ma'am ho, ayaw ho niya ng konting mangatwiran kami. Gusto niya ho, lagi ho siyang tama, siya lagi ang pakikinggan."

Sabi naman ni Camille, "Naranasan ko lang ho kay Ma'am talaga, yung pagmumura niya. Kasi po, hindi po talaga namin masikmura yung mura niya.

"Talagang ipapamukha niya pa kung gaano kalutong. Parang pinapakain niya po sa amin ang mura niya."

Dagdag pa ni Camille, may time daw na hindi sila nakakain sa oras.

Aniya, "Kakaasikaso po sa kanya kaya hindi po kami makakain sa oras. Sa sorang pag-aasikaso, sobrang pag-aano ng bahay niya. Minsan po, hindi namin alam, hindi pa po pala kami kumakain."

Ayon naman kay May, na hindi na napigilan ang umiyak, "Kasi doorbell siya nang doorbell. Hindi na ako masyadong kumakain kasi doorbell siya nang doorbell, tawag siya nang tawag."

THE JUNE 29 INCIDENT. Pero ang talagang naging dahilan daw ng pag-alis nila sa poder ng aktres ay ang nangyari noong June 29, Miyerkules.

Ayon sa kuwento ni May, "May recording daw ho siya. So, nag-aayos po kami ng gamit niya. Ako ang taga-ayos ng bag niya.

"May inaayos ho siya na mga ano, mga kulay yellow. Hindi ko ho alam na bitbit ho no'ng isang katulong namin.

Dingdong Dantes on Marian Rivera's rift with Heart Evangelista: "Dun ako sa totoo, dun ako sa tama. Hindi ako sang-ayon sa abusado."

Marami ang interesadong malaman kung ano ang saloobin ni Dingdong Dantes sa bagong isyung kinasasangkutan ng kanyang girlfriend na si Marian Rivera.

Ito ay may kaugnayan sa alitan ni Marian at ng kanyang co-star sa pelikulang Temptation Island na si Heart Evangelista.

Matatandaang pumutok ang kontrobersiya na kinumpronta diumano ng ina ni Heart na si Cecile Ongpauco si Marian sa airport pagkagaling nila ng shooting sa Ilocos Norte. (CLICK HERE to read related story.)

Dito niya inihayag na nagulat siya sa nangyari sa airport, dahil ang buong akala raw niya ay "okay"sila ni Heart pero hindi pala.

Samantala, wala pang naririnig na pahayag mula kay Heart dahil kasalukuyan itong nagbabakasyon sa Brazil kasama ang boyfriend na si Daniel Matsunaga.

Sa pakikipag-usap ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kay Dingdong Dantes sa isang event sa Makati Shangri-La kamakailan, tinanong namin siya kung ano ang reaksiyon niya sa kontrobersiyang kinasasangkutan ni Marian.

Napag-usapan ba nila ang tungkol dito?

"Definitely napag-usapan namin yun, pero para sa ganung detalye, I don't think nasa posisyon para magsalita 'coz sila yung nandun.

"Ang alam ko lang ay kung ano ang napag-usapan namin ni Marian.

"Ako, kahit na ano ang mangyari, 100 percent nandun lang ako sa tabi niya.

"Basta ang masasabi ko lang, dun ako sa totoo, dun ako sa tama. Hindi ako sang-ayon sa abusado.

"Kung may mali, dapat maituwid yung mali," pahayag ng Kapuso actor.

Para kay Dingdong, ang pagiging bukas ng komunikasyon nila ni Marian—kung saan updated sila sa nangyayari sa bawat isa tulad nga ng nangyaring ito sa girlfriend—ay isa sa higit na nagpapatatag ng relasyon nilang dalawa.

"Isa rin sa magandang dahilan kung bakit tumatagal kami ay dahil pinalalakas namin ang isa't isa.

"Sa lahat ng pagkakataon, we alawys help each other. Alam kong malalagpasan niya ito," saad niya.

Kilalang matapang si Marian, pero marami ang nagulat nang mapaiyak ito sa presscon ng Tempatation Island habang inihahayag ang kanyang saloobin sa nangyari sa kanila ni Heart.

"Tao lang 'yan, pag medyo may masakit na nangyari, siyempre maaapektuhan ka.

"Posible talaga na magkaroon ng ganyang mga pagkakataon.

Kris Aquino makes a stand on the controversial Reproductive Health Bill

Last June 28, Wednesday, Kris TV presented a live episode featuring the top five winners of Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2.

It included the tap-dancing duo Happy Feet, who bagged second place next to grand winner Marcelito Pomoy.

Brothers Ramonito and Lordito Mata, together with their elder sister Maricel, shared to Kris Aquino and her audience the story of their impoverished life in Lidona, Bukidnon.

There are nine children in their family. Maricel and Ramonito are fifth and sixth respectively, and Lordito is the youngest.

Both their parents are currently unemployed and the family is basically surviving through financial aid from an older sibling who is working in Hong Kong as a domestic helper.

Most of them never went to college or even finished high school due to lack of money.

Maricel and Ramonito were even forced to work at an early age as a sales lady and a vegetable porter just to aid the family's financial struggles.

"Ito na yung argument natin sa simbahan tungkol sa reproductive health, pag-usapan na natin," Kris blurted on air, noting how their family suffered poverty simply because there are too many kids to support financially.

RH BILL. In a sit-down interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press right after the show's live airing, Kris further explained why she is for the approval of the controversial Reproductive Health bill.

"Yung kwento na lang ni Happy Feet kanina, na nine kids tapos patigil-tigil sa pag-aaral. Hindi makapag-college yung isa dahil kulang sa pondo or hindi makapag-vocational man [lang].

"Reality 'yan, e. And that's because hindi mo binigyan ng adequate knowledge at choice yung couple kung ano'ng gusto nilang gawin," Kris pointed out.

She added, "Definitely, I'm sure pinalaki kaming lahat na pro-life.

"But all of us, my sisters, all have two kids each.

"It's your choice, e, whether natural birth control or if its pills, condom or whatever artificial means.

"Napansin n'yo na mas yung may means in life, or mas nakapag-aral ang mas responsible?

"Kasi alam n'yo kung ano yung responsibility involved with having a big family," she said, emphasizing the importance of family planning.

According to her, unless the anti-RH supporters could find a better solution than the RH bill, then they should stop debating the issue.

"Ako, feeling ko lang yun na we keep debating the issue. But then, rather than debating the issue, [let's] look at real people and what they're going through."

She also made a bold statement towards the members of the Catholic church and other anti-RH enthusiasts who are calling for the resignation of her brother, President Noynoy Aquino.

"That's one thing na I feel bago ka humingi ng resignation, sana yung church na 'yan may feeding program. Sana yung church na 'yan may scholarship program, di ba?
